Visa would like to alert clients to the latest phishing email scam which purports to come from Visa. The fraudulent email uses Visa Business News format and talks about Triple Data Encryption Standard (TDES) Mandates. The recipients are requested to follow a link to download a manual and install an update to their POS systems. If you or any of your merchants receive similar emails, do not click on the link or open any attachments. Instead, forward it on to firstname.lastname@example.org with any additional information you may have. If you have fallen victim to this scam, you should contact your information security team. Visa reviews all communications received and if our research determines the email submitted is fraudulent, we will work in partnership with other anti-phishing organizations and law enforcement to take appropriate action. Visa also encourages clients to review Visa phishing alert: Visa Warns Merchants of E-mail Phishing Scams that provides tips on how to identify phishing emails.
